Ringkasan Kegiatan

The pharmaceutical industry made from the cat's whiskers plant in recent years has increased, so it requires a lot of raw materials with a sustainable supply. The problem faced is the reduced availability of plant biomass in society today. Another problem faced is the genetic diversity of the cat's whiskers plant which are narrow due to the vegetative propagation process. Efforts that will be made to overcome the above problems are by reproductive and vegetative propagation based on participatory plant breeding. The objectives of this community service activity are 1) increasing the knowledge and skills of farmer women group members in propagation technology with reproductive and vegetative approaches, cultivation and post harvest management of cat whiskers plant, 2) encouraging farmer women group members and surrounding communities to make the seeds and simplicia of cat whiskers plant as a source income for the family, 3) identify genetic resources of local cat's whiskers plant. The community service program are carried out in Harum Manis Women's Farmers Group (KWT) stayed at Kutamandiri Village, Tanjungsari subdistrict, Sumedang Regency, West Java, from April to October 2020. The activities carried out with classical training methods, practices and assistance in propagtion and cultivation of cat whiskers plants. The training material to be delivered includes vegetative and reproductive propgtion techniques, plant cultivation techniques and post-harvest cat whiskers leaves. Guiding assistance in the propagation and cultivation process is carried out in the KWT nursery area.
