Ringkasan Kegiatan

"Currently, public transportation users in big cities are increasing due to the increasing mobility of the community, especially commuter workers. During the morning, afternoon, and evening rush hours, it is a common sight where workers fill bus stops (BRT or public buses) or train stations (KRL, LRT, or MRT). Five years ago, there was a different view along the Sudirman-Thamrin area in Jakarta. It's not only the sidewalks that are getting more comfortable or the people looking excited about walking but also the information boards at non-bus rapid transit (BRT) stops along the protocol road. DKI Jakarta Provincial Government installed information boards in maps, signage, and wayfinding at 28 non-BRT bus stops to make it easier to find public transportation information. The information included is not only mass transportation, such as Transjakarta buses, but all modes of transportation that pass in the area. We can see routes and code numbers for public transport. Information is also presented in Indonesian and English. So, the ease of taking public transportation is felt not only by residents but also by international tourists. Signage and wayfinding are important in providing direction or destination information, whether used in buildings, traffic, commercial identity, or information signs. Several people think that wayfinding and signage are the same product. But basically, wayfinding and signage are different. However, signage and wayfinding are inseparable units to properly inform and visualize the space of a place (Calori, 2007). There are various definitions of signage that make this misunderstanding happen. One of them is stated by Rubenstein (1992) in his book 'Pedestrian Malls, Streetscape, and Urban Space'. In Rubenstein's book, he argues that signage has four main functions that make signage an increasingly important element in a city. Wayfinding is a visual key that allows people to navigate through space by providing information to help them figure out how to work out how they can get to their desired destination. Signage has a role as a supporting tool to provide information, restrictions, and directions in the navigation/wayfinding process. Signage incorporates all the visual information related to a location and is a manifestation of wayfinding. Whatever definition the experts say, wayfinding does have a function to guide people to reach a certain destination. Wayfinding is an important element in a city or place because it will help many people. Based on the description above, a book entitled ""Way Finding and Signage"" will be compiled which will contain concepts regarding definitions, regulations, benchmarking, technical planning, and the implementation of Way Finding and Signage, especially in big cities that have complexities in using public transportation. which is quite high. The theories presented will be supplemented with examples of their application"
