Structure of chemical substance, is one of the 3 main subjects in Physical Chemistry, namely Energy, Structure, and Dynamics. Structure is often considered the most difficult, because it involves objects and phenomena that cannot be observed directly by the five senses. Therefore, a “multiple representation” method of learning, or sometimes be called 3-world approach, is required in learning this topic, which is also used in the writing of this book. The 3-world approach in question is that learners, in this case university students, are expected to be able to integrate the 3 representations of the topics, namely symbols (mathematical formulas, curves, chemical formulas, etc.), sub-microscopic world (atoms and molecules)., as well as the macroscopic world that is known by the five senses. The visual exploration for this book was carried out with the help of 2 academic assistants and one student. Weekly online meetings between members of the team, chosed every Tuesday afternoon, were carried out to view achievements, make adjustments based on various inputs, and more.

This program is one of the activities in P3MI 2020, which aims to provide a textbook in Indonesian language for Chemical Structure and Bonding course and similar courses in the Undergraduate Program in Chemistry. So that it can be used elsewhere, not only in leading universities such as ITB and UGM, the writing of this book was designed from the beginning to be easy to understand, through simple language, and enrich with visual representations in curves, three-dimensional view of atoms and molecules, and macroscopic phenomena. related to the properties and behavior of atoms and molecules.
