Ringkasan Kegiatan

Agriculture is still important in many area of Indonesia. However in many places due to the change of climate or other changing by human activities some agriculture area lost their water irrigation sources. Some of them still have nearby water sources but their location is below the agriculture area. Therefore it is necessary to have water pump as part of the irrigation system. In this study the model for solar energy based water pumping system as part of the irrigation system has been developed. In this system solar radiation energy is converted to electrical energy by solar panel. The electricity from the solar panel is used to charge the DC battery and the process is controlled by Battery Control Unit (BCU) which include a microprocessor inside it. The DC to AC inverter change the DC voltage to common AC voltage to drive the pumps. The pumps first move the water into first water reservoir which is located about 30m elevation from the water level. Second pump then is used to move the water from the first tank into the second tank above the farming area. Relatively long piping system has been installed to reach high water source which relatively clean compared to the water from Cibalong river. To increase the water debit capacity additional piping system has been installed too increase the flowrate and new DC pump has been installed to get more efficient system. In order to flow the water from the river to the first tank, it is needed to pass through the pipe of about 500 m distant and about 30 m elevation. Therefore is necessary to simulate the pressure drop across the pipe to help design optimal system configuration. The following equation is general momentum balance equation which then can be readjust to calculate the pressure drop across the pipe Results: New piping system has been successfully installed and also the piping network and connection system to the pump atc. In inspection it has been shown that the use of one pump can improve the flowrate four to five times and the additional one more pump can improve further 3-4 times of flowrate. This achevements has met the target in this program. During the program implementation coordinations have been conducted with the society and the civil work also included some of the them.
