Ringkasan Kegiatan

Indonesia has very diverse fossil records. Many fossil findings are endemic types that can only be found in Indonesia. Unfortunately, due to a lack of publicity, the rich diversity of our fossils is still not widely known by the public, so concern for fossils and interest in studying fossils is very low. It requires an interesting and interactive introduction method to apply it to elementary school-age students. It is hoped that this project can expand knowledge about Indonesian fossils to the public, especially to teachers and elementary school students so that students know and have an interest in Indonesian palaeontology. The interactive introduction of fossils can be achieved by looking at fossils and touching them directly. However, there are rarely or even no schools that have books and fossil collections, so the only opportunities for students to study fossils are when they visit the museum. Currently, we do not have a printed book that explains fossil abundance in Indonesia. Almost all books found on the market only discuss fossils from other countries. Through this project, we try to fill the gap by providing a printed book that presents Indonesian fossils and contains interactive activities for students. Thus, it is easier for students to understand and develop an interest in palaeontology. To follow this project, it was performed in an elementary school with an interactive concept and bringing students closer to learning directly from nature. It gradually will be prepared for higher education. The purposes of this project are top provides insights and guides on interactive activities regarding Indonesian palaeontology and fostering interest and concern for students towards Indonesian fossils from an early age.
