In geotechnical design, the characterizationof local soil conditions must be able to provide representative and reliableparameter values to support technical calculations. This information plays animportant role as it often forms the basis for the selection of various designscenarios. Generally, these soil parameters can be obtained from soil samples thatare tested in the laboratory. In this case, there are many factors that affectthe results of laboratory tests, such as the sampling process, the sampledelivery process, and the limitations of laboratory testing equipment. Tominimize this influence on the test results, field testing is one of the solutions.This research presents a study on the development of a field direct shear test.
