Thermodynamic Formulation in Software Human learning of the universe related to thermodynamics has arisen the desire of man to formulate the nature of air in order to obtain the law of its properties and finally it is called the ideal gas law with a formula called the ideal gas equation. Improvements of the ability of the ideal gas equation to represent fluid properties are continuously being conducted. The next equations of state following are the van der Waal equation, the virial equation, the SRK equation, the BWR equation, the MBWR equation, the Helmholtz equation of state and many other equations. Research in the development of the Helmholtz equation of state has also been widely carried out. As many equations have been developed, thermodynamic analysis of various fluids can also be carried out. However, there are still few software to calculate thermodynamic properties in the world, even in Indonesia no one has developed it. Conclusion : Windows-based interface software for calculating the thermodynamic properties of fluids based on the Helmoltz equation of state has been developed and it can work properly. The software has an easy-to-use interface. The software that has been created have been more 30 pure compounds and it is completed with binary mixture with limited ability and number.

Knowledge of the thermodynamic properties of fluids and their mixtures is a very important basic science and is one of the basics of calculations commonly used in engineering applications and thermofluid science. Fluid properties such as enthalpy and density under certain operating conditions are needed in the evaluation of thermal systems and heat and mass transfer. Knowledge about the properties of fluids in certain circumstances can be used by academics for research and industry in the evaluation of systems and the development of thermo fluid systems. Research on the formulation of equations of state has been carried out in order to accurately represent the thermodynamic properties of fluids and mixture according to the most accurate experimental data. Most recent standard equations of state are represented in Helmholtz free energy. Among the equations of state, Helmholtz free energy equations of state have advantage on deriving thermodyanmic properties. All thermodynamic properties for a fluid can be calculated from its Helmholtz equation of state. Additionally thermodynamic analyses are made easily by abundant availability of equations of state for various working fluids. However, available calculation software for thermodynamic properties is still scarce. Moreover, the calculation software development is still not developed in Indonesia yet so that people who want to use latest equation of state from many liquids have to wait update from abroad software development team which is slow and do not depend on abroad software. Therefore, thermodynamic properties software is important to be developed to support fundamental data for science and engineering.
