Kecamatan Muara in North Tapanuli Regency, North Sumatra is one of the village that has a variety potential both natural and cultural. This area has abundant materials for natural coloring sources. The livelihoods activity of this village community is weaving. Despite weaving activities have been carried from generations, their limited knowledge about potential of local material. This is also in line with ecotourism concept that already adapted by them. The things above are still need to be supported by those who have competence in these fields. For this reason, the community service program with the team from the KK Kriya and Tradition is expected to be able to make a positive contribution to the weaver community in the Muara area and also provide benefits in the form of valuable experiences for students who are actively involved in this activity. Mutual learning process are expected, as well as the alignment of knowledge obtained at school with the real conditions in the field. In the end, it is expected to produce craft products with high value and bring significant impact to the creative industries in Muara area.

They have no other option rather than bright and striking colors to begin with. Therefore the ikat woven that have been produced is not in optimal quality at the term of aesthetic design. Quality development by utilizing local potential of ikat woven fabric are needed to be able to compete at textile market. Especially in terms of colors composition and weaving skill based on its local cultural value through experiments process. So that it will produce more attractive colors with better quality of ikat woven fabric. The quality improvements are expected to develop the economic value of ikat woven fabric in order to increase economic growth at Muara area.
