According to BPLHD (2006), Citarum watershed up to the Saguling Reservoir is distributed in Sumedang Regency, Bandung Regency, Bandung City and Cimahi City. This area of Citarum watershed is a part of the river that has a lot of pollution due to industrial, population and agricultural waste (fertilizers, pesticides and crop residues). Floods that often occur during rainy seasons in some areas of West Java are one of the effects for the accumulation of garbage in several rivers in West Java, including Cikeruh River; one of the tributaries of the Citarum River. Haurngombong is one of ITB-owned fields that has the potential to be used as a nursery for local plants, such as white teak. In addition, the development of Haurngombong as a nursery also provides an opportunity for ITB to play a role in the community service programs through not only woody plants nursery programs, but also through food crop nursery programs and therefore improving the quality of life for communities surrounding Haurngombong.
