Ringkasan Kegiatan

The Digital Museum of Traditional and Modern Artifacts named Museumbenda.id is an artifact data collection platform in the form of digital data designed by the Ethnography Design Laboratory, Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, in 2019. Museumbenda.id aims to collect data on artifacts from the daily lives of Indonesian people, includes both traditional artifacts and modern products that have been designed by today's designers. The main vision of digitizing artifacts is not only to collect and preserve these artifacts (tangible aspects), but also to provide an understanding of the meaning and cultural values (intangible aspects) contained in artifacts and the people who use them. The digital artifact database is compiled with data components that aim to produce knowledge about traditional artifacts and modern designs in Indonesia, support design education, the design process, encourage collaboration between craftsmen and designers and also as an effort to preserve Indonesian culture. The short-term program carried out is to collect visual data of artifacts in 2d and 3d forms and complete the description of the artifacts. In the process of collecting data, several appropriate methods are needed to be able to meet these objectives. In the 2020 study, data collection was carried out through a personal approach, namely collecting artifacts from several collectors of handicraft products in the city of Bandung. From the data collection process, some basic information is obtained regarding the name of the artifact, function, material, origin, dimension, production technique and so on. In 2021, this research will continue using the Participatory Design method; as a way to dig deeper information and insights about artifacts through collaboration with several communities. Through the Participatory Design method, it is known that digitizing artifacts can provide further benefits, namely increasing public participation in artifact preservation and providing opportunities for designers to participate in product development indirectly. The case study involved a ceramic Pancaniti craftsman in Cianjur.
