Ringkasan Kegiatan

As a tropical country, Indonesia has a wide range of natural resources that give many advantages to the inhabitants. Honey is one of the daily goods that has a big market, both local and international. Honey characteristics and quality depend on the local flora compositions, geographical conditions, producing flower selection by the bees and the harvesting time. More information related to the producing floral compositions will help the apiarists to characterize their honey and honey related products and add more values to their products. Objective of this study is using melissopalynology to define the pollen composition in the honey collected from five beekeepers/apiarists and give information to them and to the consumers concerning the originality and flora origin of the honey, type of the honey, allergy potential caused by specific pollens, and to plan further conservation efforts and planting to increase the production quality and quantity. Therefore, the overall information can be used to increase the selling values and competitiveness of the local honey, especially in Bandung and its surrounding areas.

Testimoni Masyarakat

Information of pollen compositions in the honey and other honey related product of five apiarists in Bandung and its surrounding can be used by these apiarists and other beekeepers and honey consumers as a base information concerning the originality of the honey, presence of allergen pollens, as well as the dominant nectar producing floras. This will help honey producers to maintain the ecosystem or increasing the numbers of the producing plants, to increase both quality and quantity of the honey and its related products.
