Abstract
The flood phenomenon often occurs in various regions in Indonesia and causes significant losses and can even claim lives. One of the mitigation efforts that can be carried out in flood-prone areas is the creation of floating shelters that can be a safe place during a flood and can still function well even if it is not flooded. In this project, a simple floating residential module was designed and manufactured using materials that are relatively cheap and relatively easy to work with. This floating housing model functions for 2 condition modes: flood conditions (floating) and normal conditions. The residence is made with an area of 3x3m2 and a height of 6m. The frame material is made of light steel, and the roof is fiber glass. The floating components are 12 plastic drums with a capacity of 200 liters which are tied together with light steel construction. The walls of the floating residence are made of Glass Reinforced Concrete (GRC) and the floor is made of wooden planks. In the triangle section of the upper front and rear walls, material in the form of transparent fiber is used so that light enters optimally. This floating residence is placed in a pond with an area of 9x7m2 and a depth of 1.5 meters. The capacity of the floating residence is 10 people or the equivalent of 700 kg. The floating residential architecture was created so that it can accommodate maximum people by considering the traditional aspect, namely the shape of the mountain (gunungan). Making this floating shelter costs approximately Rp. 16,000,000, with details of IDR 12,000,000 for materials and IDR 4,000,000 for workers' wages. The production is carried out for three weeks in a reservoir where the water was dried first. It is hoped that this practical and cheap floating house module can become an example for application in flood-prone areas and water tourism areas in Indonesia.
