Ringkasan Kegiatan

The use of medicinal plants in Indonesia is increasingly rising. This condition was supported by the government's policy on traditional medicine as well as the increasing researches on the efficacy of traditional medicine. The growth of traditional medicine industries (IOT) and smaller enterprises (UMOT) were also increased. More than 50 % of raw materials in the products were consisted from the plant of Zingiberaceae family, for examples were turmeric and ginger. Unfortunately, the quality of raw materials in the market were still varies due to the lack of standardization in the process of cultivation and post-harvest stages. These conditions influenced the efficacy of traditional medicines which were not consistent. To avoid this situation, there should be some efforts for the cultivation of medicinal plants. This process can be done by involving the community. People living in the suburbs of Bandung mostly do their job as farmers or gardening. They planted food crops such as rice and vegetables. To increase the value of community gardens, it needed diversification of plantation crops using medicinal plants because society in general was not used to cultivate medicinal plants. This community service project was conducted with the aim of educating people in the cultivation of medicinal herbs and medicinal plants use. Training of cultivation (medicinal plants from Zingibraceae family) b. Medicinal purposes education of Zingiberaceae plants This activity was organized in cooperation with the Department of Agriculture Bandung and also LPM Kelurahan Pasir Jati (Nagrog).
