Ringkasan Kegiatan

Weak basic chemistry in high school students causes new problems when entering further education in universities, especially ITB. In the first year, ITB students are required to pass in basic subjects such as General Chemistry. General Chemistry course teachers assume students have understood the basic concepts of Chemistry at the high school level, so students are given the application of these concepts in higher education. This workshop is important to improve teacher understanding of a number of chemical materials. With this training it is expected that the delivery of material in the class will be more detailed and students have a better understanding. The material chosen for this training is chemical bonds. In the first session, participants were given material review of atomic structure and molecular structure. This is to correct the wrong understanding of teaching chemistry at the high school level and its equivalent. Participants were given enrichment material, molecular orbitals, as a prelude to computational chemistry. In the third session, participants did practical work on personal laptop media trying to visualize the material provided in the previous two sessions. On this occasion, the software used was ArgusLab with a semiempirical theory level.
