In gas wells, optimum production will occur if we can overcome the problems that often occur with gas wells, including the problems of sand, water coning and liquid loading as well as other problems. These problems can be prevented by optimizing production in gas wells. This study aims to identify and describe the critical flow rate of the gas well that can be used as a reference in determining the gas flow rate by taking into account economic and engineering factors. The critical flow rate for liquid loading is the minimum limit of gas production so that the grain of the liquid (condensate) can be lifted up to the surface. While the critical flow rate for water coning is the maximum limit of gas production so that coning does not occur in the future. The process of determining the flow rate of a gas well requires at least two considerations above to avoid problems such as condensate blocking and water coning which will greatly disrupt the production of gas wells. With this research, it is expected that the flow rate that is free from liquid loading and water coning will be obtained with various parameters that influence in the form of graphs / equations / rule of thumb.
