The variable cost of labor and wood to produce palm sugar products is still high, around 62.33% of the total cost. High fuel wood costs indicate the requirement to save fuelwood costs through different types of products, such as liquid sugar. While the cost of making kolang kaling is larger than loading brown sugar indicates a requirement for increase in added value by developing products or packaging with consumer tastes. Due to the actual production of farms processing palm sugar and kolang kaling still has not received an increase in added value (referring to Hayami et al., 1997) solutions are made through standardization of product quality and design product (Kotler and Keller, 2004; Stanton, 1994; Walsh, 1992),then community service needs to be done to encourage the management process of this superior commodity business actor. An appropriate technology that is adapted to the characteristics of the regions in these two sub-districts or the design of products that are suitable for consumer requirement was a target to be realized from the implementation of this community service in 2018.
