Oscilloscope and battery charger modules are supporting instruments and modules required in the development of alternative energy generating systems. Unfortunately, in many cases these are imported goods. Therefore, these are costly and are not readily available in Indonesian markets. On the other hand, the economical version of these modules can be implemented by using the available components in Indonesia. Therefore, this community service program is initiated in order to maximize the benefits of both modules and simultaneously empower the public and synergize the collaboration between education institutions. This program involve the Engineering Physics Program - Faculty of Industrial Technology – Institut Teknologi Bandung, The Center for Instrumentation Technology and Automation – Institut Teknologi Bandung and the Vocational High School I Cimahi – Bandung (SMKN1 Cimahi Bandung). The theme of the program is the development of economic digital oscilloscope and battery charging module. Theme was implemented in practical classes at August 16th and 23rd, 2015. The classes involved 20 students, 5 teachers, 1 headmaster of SMKN 1 Cimahi Bandung, and the ITB community service team. The goal of the program was to produce 5 digital oscilloscopes and 10 battery-charging modules. Completed products were offered in www.instrument.itb.ac.id as a low cost alternative instruments and components for energy harvesting module. The practical classes were held as collaborative activities between the involved parties. The teachers and headmaster of SMKN1 Cimahi provided the practical facilities and synchronized the execution with the vocational learning curriculum. The practical was instructed by the ITB team, and supervised by the teachers. The ITB team also facilitates the online marketing of the products. The product performance were also documented and published in National Seminar of Instrumentation, Control and Automation, December 10th – 11st 2015. This program is an example of educational collaboration with vocational high school that to build the expertise of producing instruments and components with high economic potentials.
