Previous studies related to the organization growth stage have been carried out and proved that the organizational life cycle is one of the effective tools to monitor the organizational growth. However, no previous studies had identified the organizational growth stages in the e-commerce industry. As is well known, the emergence of e-commerce start-up in Indonesia is very rapidly growing in line with the current technology development. However, the data shows that the failure rate of new businesses in the e-commerce industry is still very high. For this reason, this research aims to identify the organizational life cycle and the characteristics of each growth stage in the e-commerce industry. The research was conducted through three stages, namely the conceptual model development, data collection, and model validation. The model development phase is carried out by conducting in-depth literature studies on several previous studies. Furthermore, at the data collection stage, the method used is a case study on an e-commerce company which is one of the largest e-commerce in Indonesia. Data collection was done by in-depth interview method to several respondents, namely founders and top managements, as well as study of the company's secondary documents, to explore the characteristics of the growth stage of the organization.
