In our lab we have investigated and developed the method for extraction, isolation and purification of secondary metabolites from plants. These knowledge and technology have been implemented to provide the marker compounds through IbIKK program from DRPM Kemenristekdikti and accompanying funding from ITB. The purposes of this program is to prepare many marker compounds that could be used by herbal medicines industries and other institution for research and other purposes in order to develop high quality of herbal medicine product. In addition to herbal medicines these marker compounds could be also used for functional foods and natural sweetener. The results of this program which is so called IbIKK at the final year (year 3) are 1) Collection of 5 herbal medicines for production of marker compounds, 2) Providing 5 marker compounds, 3) Development and marketing of product through website and 4) Standardization of extract from industries, 5). The marketing of marker compounds has been started for industries as well as for researches purposes, but this is still a bit far from the target. Overall, the amount of marker compounds that has been ready to sel around 15-12. Although this program was finished, this program is still continue as aimed before to help herbal medicine industries and other stakeholder to improve the quality of herbal medicines in Indonesia.

Indonesian Herbal Pharmacopoea (FHI) which has to be referred by all parties especially producer and all related institution for herbal medicines Availability of marker compounds for the material of herbal medicines is a bottleneck for producer especially a small herbal medicines companies. The difficulties to obtain the marker compounds are the opportunities for their isolation and development in order to provide them for industries and other institutions.
