Ringkasan Kegiatan

The community service program (CSP) aims to disseminate research results from the KK-OS to the wider community. The ehree group of CSP focused on the marone conservation and tehnology utilization in ocean science. Seagrass are a grouping of plant taxa bearing flower-like reproductuve structures (Antophyta) that live and grow immersed in the marine environment. The functions and benefits of seagrass beds in shallow water ecosystems are as primary producers, biota habitats, bottom water stabilizers, sediment catcher and nutrient recyclers. However, based on LIPI’s (2018) Oceanographic Research and Development data, the seagrass ecosystem in Indonesia is decreasing and its quality is deteriorating, so that it has a significant impact on others biota related to the seagrass ecosystem. The group of CSP utilizes technology to promote marine tourism destination and to strenghen safety operational procedure for handling oil spills. Throught ewb based Geographyc Information System (GIS), all informations regarding the location, types of tourism attractions, information on oceanographic meteorologocal parameters (wave height, current), access to air, land and sea transport, accommodation information will really hel tourist to travel safely and comfortably.

Regarding coastal hazard, the volacnic activity of Mount Anak Krakatau causes a destructive tsunami on the coast of Sunda Strait. Moreover, the existence of subdduction zone that can generate a megathrust earthquake an then generate a destructive tsunami is also threatening the people around Sunda Strait. Therefore, a study about the vulnerability to natural disasters in Sunda Strait region is needed to ma the affected areas if tsunami generates by volcanic activitise and earthquake happens in the near future. The results of tsunami numerical simulation on December 2018 generatr by the volcanic activity of Mount Anak Krakatau shows that there is a variation in tsunami height along the coast of the Sunda Starain with a maximum tsunami height in Ujung Kulon and Pandeglang Regency with a value of 10-16 m.
