Drawing as a medium that is growing quite rapidly recently has become an interesting phenomenon in Indonesian contemporary art. Drawing works appeared and took part in the constellation of the development of fine arts and had a special place that was different from other media. Drawing, which was previously an “intermediate” medium, is now a stand-alone medium that is equal to other mediums. In an academic environment, Drawing becomes a learning base that is usually aimed at a basic understanding of Fine Arts. Mastery of drawing skills is a must-have for every student. In the academic environment in Indonesia, the influence of Drawing Europe is very strong. This includes subject matter and themes such as natural objects, figurative, and landscapes. The method used is to make observations, collect data from both text and images, and observations from various books, magazines and exhibition events that focus on drawing works, then conduct literature studies, work analysis, and discussions with experts. The latter Elaborates various findings and ideas from observations, discussions, analysis, and studies to then are compiled into a comprehensive book. However, this book is not merely a final reference book, but this book can actually be a starting point that can open up possibilities for future research on drawing problems.

The use of mediums and methods also embraces the developments there. What developed was that drawing became a skill that focused more on technical aspects. This also makes the development of the discourse and conceptual aspects less significant. From this, the presence of a comprehensive study of discourses, conventions, and conceptions is important and urgent. This development has not been followed by many writings on drawings from a more conceptual aspect that explains various things about the convention, its relationships, and the discourse. So it is important to write a paper exploring this problem so that it can provide a broader understanding of the questions in knowledge that accompany developing drawing practice.
