Strengthening Collaboration with the Ministry of Industry Inaugurates MKU MBKM Program KKN Community Service Top Down & Fostered Villages Bandung Institute of Technology

Koran SINAR PAGI (Bandung)-During his working visit to the Blacksmith Center in Mekarmaju Village, Director of Metal, Machinery, Electronics, and Transport Equipment IKM (IKM LMEA), Dini Hanggandari opened the MKU MBKM KKN Program for Top Down Community Service and Assisted Villages of the Bandung Institute of Technology which was held in Mekarmaju Village, Ciwidey . “Currently we are in an era of collaboration, where to be successful in industrial competition, collaboration with various parties is needed. Small and medium industries are no exception,” said the Director of LMEA IKM, Dini Hanggandari, to reporters.

Collaboration between the government, producers (IKM and Large Industries), consumers, as well as experts/academics in terms of improving product quality through the preparation and application of the Indonesian National Standard (SNI), especially for the agricultural equipment industry, is very beneficial.

As Dini said, the Directorate General of IKMA has initiated the establishment of a material center for Agricultural Equipment IKM since October 7, 2019. Until now, the material center which has an institution under the name PT. Mekarmaju Jaya Abadi and can supply raw materials to IKM in Mekarmaju Village.

"In developing IKM, the Ministry of Industry has various coaching programs, including Technical Guidance in increasing technical production capabilities, Facilitation of Machinery/Equipment for optimizing efficiency and productivity, Assistance of Experts in the context of increasing market competitiveness. As well as programs to promote the potential of SMIs both online and offline,” explained Dini.

The Directorate General of IKMA has also carried out a coaching synergy in Mekarmaju Village with the Bandung Institute of Technology, especially the Metallurgical Engineering Study Program, Faculty of Mining and Petroleum Engineering in 2019, through mentoring activities for the application of SNI agricultural tools (hoes) in West Java.

ITB Metallurgical Engineering Study Program is also involved as an expert in the Assistance activity for Spades Product Standardization in 2020. “I express my greatest appreciation for the attention of the Bandung Institute of Technology to the community, especially in the field of community service and empowerment of the assisted villages in this case the IKM Desa Mekarmaju.

This program is expected to increase the competitiveness of IKM Hoes in Mekarmaju Village, through the fulfillment of SNI hoes. So that it can raise the selling price of the hoes whose effects can be felt directly by the people of Mekarmaju village.

This program is also expected to be able to explore the potential for collaboration between ITB and the Directorate General of IKMA which grew from the idea of ​​lecturers, as well as MKU MBKM KKN participants who had the opportunity to directly socialize and communicate directly with IKM Blacksmiths in Mekarmaju Village," added Dini.

The Director of IKM LMEA expressed his highest appreciation to the Bandung Institute of Technology for its attention to the community, especially in the field of community service and empowerment of the assisted villages, in this case the IKM of Mekarmaju Village.

"Hopefully other collaborations with members of the SNI 21-02 Komtek and IKM will be more motivated to be more active in developing their industry and have a strong role in the domestic market and have global competitiveness. Strong IKM Indonesia Jaya," he concluded.
