ITB's Role in the 10th World Water Forum to Overcome Global Water Challenges

The Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) will play an important role in the 10th World Water Forum (WWF) which has the theme "Water for Shared Prosperity". This forum was held in Bali from 18 to 25 May 2024. As a leading institution in the field of water resources, ITB contributes to overcoming various global water challenges through education, research and community service activities.

The World Water Forum, held every three years by the World Water Council, is the main platform for stakeholders to collaborate and find long-term solutions to global water issues. This year, the event is expected to be attended by 30,000 participants from 172 countries. Various activities will be held such as political, regional, and thematic sessions, high level panels, special sessions, side events, Bali youth plans, fairs, expos, and cultural/field trip programs.

President Joko Widodo and several cabinet members, including PUPR Minister Basuki Hadimuljono, will attend this event. Minister Basuki has been seen at the event location since Sunday morning, May 19 2024.

ITB will take advantage of this opportunity to showcase various achievements in research and innovation in the field of water resources. This involvement includes various institutions at ITB such as LPPM, LPIK, LPIT, and the Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering (FTSL). They will display their work in the form of posters, scientific publications and innovative products.

On this occasion, ITB also launched a compilation of 3 English books (e-Books) in the form of River Governance (Rivers Toolbox)
write a track record of community service (selected) contributions across ITB Faculties for handling the Citarum Harum watershed 2018-2022.

Several important figures from ITB participated in this event, including ITB Chancellor Prof. Ir. N. R. Reini Djuhraeni Wirahadikusumah, M.S.C.E., Ph.D., Prof. Ir. I Gede Wenten M.Sc., Ph.D., Prof. Ir. Indratmo Soekarno, M.Sc., Ph.D., Dr. Ir. Mohammad Farid, Dr. Ir. Rofiq Iqbal, and Dr. Ir. Qomarudin Helmy, Faizal Immaddudin Wira Rohmat, S.T., M.T., Ph.D., Ferdyansah Poernama, A.Md, and Bagus Pramono Yaakti, S.T., M.T. It is hoped that their presence will strengthen collaboration with international stakeholders and demonstrate ITB's commitment to facing global water challenges.

ITB will also participate in the exhibition by displaying several activities such as Citarum Harum as well as innovative products such as membrane-based water ultrafiltration devices and IoT-based water quality measuring devices.

The 10th WWF is an important moment for ITB to share knowledge and experience and strengthen cooperation with the world water community. ITB is ready to contribute to joint efforts to overcome various global water challenges and ensure the sustainability of water resources for future generations.
