The leader of the community service team from Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB), Dr. Ira Adriati, M.Sn, encourages weavers in (Timor Tengah Selatan) TTS Regency to use social media, especially Instagram, as a platform to promote their woven products. According to Dr. Ira, Instagram allows weavers to sell their woven fabrics and other creative products made from them.
"In Kupang, there are two stores that have leveraged Instagram to sell woven fabric-based products and have gained national recognition. By using Instagram, they can achieve better prices and reach a broader audience," Ira stated during an interview with the media on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, at the TTS Regency Tourism Office.
To support this initiative, Ira and her team members, Oetomo Triwinarno and Sekar Pratiwi, plan to provide an Android smartphone to a weaving group in Fatumnasi. The smartphone will be used to market their woven products on Instagram.
"We are heading to Fatumnasi soon to deliver a smartphone to the weaving group there. We've also created an Instagram account named 'Tenun Mutis' to help them start promoting their work," Ira explained.
In addition to handing over the smartphone, Ira mentioned that Fatumnasi will also host the launch of a book titled *Ume Kbubu (The Round House)*, which tells the story of the traditional house of Mutis.
"This book is a children's story aimed at introducing the traditional house called Ume Kbubu. We hope this book can serve as an educational tool for children and future generations to learn about Ume Kbubu," Ira remarked.
Currently, Ira is also working on a book that highlights the richness of woven fabrics in TTS Regency. "We plan to launch a book next year about the beauty and richness of woven fabrics in TTS Regency," she added.
The Secretary of the TTS Regency Tourism Office, Jhon Asbanu, expressed his appreciation for ITB’s community service team. "We are very grateful to ITB's team for helping introduce the richness of TTS Regency's woven fabrics at the national and international levels through the Tenun Timor Tengah Selatan website," Jhon said.
On this occasion, Ira handed over the *Ume Kbubu* book and a souvenir to Jhon Asbanu, who reciprocated by giving a woven fabric as a token of gratitude to Ira and her team.
