Visit of LPPM ITB Representative Team for Geotourism Development Cooperation in Southern Magetan

Continuing the plan to prepare for cooperation in assisting the development of potential tourist villages into geotourism destinations in Magetan Regency. On 26-28 December 2021, the LPPM ITB team together with representatives of the expert team from the Center for Tourism Development Planning (P2Par ITB), School of Architecture, Planning and Policy Development (SAPPK ITB), Faculty of Earth Science and Technology (FITB ITB) made a visit to prepare cooperation with the Magetan district government. The visiting LPPM Team representative was represented by Deny Willy Junaidy, Ph.D. (Secretary for Community Service, LPPM ITB); Budi Faisal Ph.D. (Lecturer of SAPPK ITB); Yani Adriani, S.T., M.P.Par. Derry Apriansyah, S.T., Roiswahid Dimas Pangestu, S. Ars., Ferdyansyah Poernama, A.Md.

The visit was welcomed by the Regent of Magetan, Bpk. Dr. Drs. Suprawoto, S.H., M.Sc., along with the leadership of the Magetan Regency Government. Also joining Joko Trihono S.Sos M.Sc. (Head of Tourism and Culture); Cahaya Wijaya, S. STP, M.Si (Head of Kominfo Magetan); Eka Radityo S. STP (Head of Tourism Management Disparbud); Happy Herawati, ST. MM. (Kasi. Disparbud, Magetan Regency). The visit and identification of the four villages was accompanied by the local village heads, Bpk. Sumono, (Head of Trosono Village), Mr. Sauji (Kades Ngunut), Mr. Munirul Ichwan (Humpback Village Head), Mr. Suyono (Head of Sayutan Village). The things identified by experts from ITB include the potential for developing natural geotourism in the Mount Blego area, Kec. Parang, South Magetan, where there is a potential for the existence of a caldera including Paragliding tours, etc. The challenges in the Blego peak area that need attention from the ITB team are the issue of water access, the need for a master plan that is in synergy with RIPARDA, and looking at the local geological history to be appointed and developed into the design of geotourism packages.
