Public Lecture by ITB’s SBM-FSRD at UNIMUDA Sorong: Fostering Business Sustainability and Creativity

On Tuesday (27/8/2024), the School of Business and Management (SBM) and the Faculty of Art and Design (FSRD) from the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) held a public lecture at the Unimada Convention Center (UCC) in Sorong. This event was a result of collaboration between the ITB Community Service Team from SBM and FSRD and the Muhammadiyah University of Sorong (UNIMUDA). The public lecture also marked the conclusion of all ITB community service activities in the Southwest Papua Province.

Dr. Nur Budi Mulyono, ST, MT, a lecturer from SBM ITB, presented material related to the use of digital transformation to maintain business sustainability over time during the lecture. "In the digital transformation era, we are indeed required to be ready to coexist with the technology itself. In daily life, this technology can help us increase productivity. Therefore, when linked to business, the profits can be maximized," explained Nur Budi Mulyono to Tabura Pos.

However, he emphasized that the key to success does not lie in the sophistication of the technology or devices used, but in the stages that must be followed. These stages include digitization, digitalization, and digital transformation through the implementation of new business models. "To create new business models, there must be a role for digital technology and human creativity. It is the high level of creativity that will determine the effectiveness of the new business models that can be created," he added.

Meanwhile, Dr. Muksin, S.Sn, M.Sn, a lecturer from FSRD ITB, presented material on the development of artistic creativity in programs aimed at achieving excellence. In his presentation, Muksin stated that digital technology is the primary asset for achieving success. "Talking about creativity is akin to talking about talent and skills, how to manage them, and what strategies to use. Creativity potential can be illustrated in the Pyramid of the Human Mind, which includes primary abilities such as physical, creative, and rational abilities; secondary abilities such as imagination, feelings, and movement; and tertiary abilities influenced by playfulness and vision," Muksin explained.

According to him, creativity is not limited to the arts but is also crucial in all fields. With creativity, many new things can be done or created. "Based on the theory of creativity, which includes originality, elaboration, fluency in thinking, and flexibility in expression, creativity can lean towards either positive or negative directions. Therefore, individuals must start learning to recognize and map their potential, and it is important to have someone to guide them," he said.

It is hoped that with the proper introduction and mapping of potential, the creativity possessed by each individual can bring significant impacts in achieving outstanding success.

Nita Indriyani, ST, MT, the Head of the Chemical Engineering Study Program at UNIMUDA Sorong, expressed her appreciation to the ITB Community Service Team for taking the time to deliver the public lecture to her students. She hopes that the collaboration between ITB and UNIMUDA Sorong will facilitate the transfer of information and knowledge. She also hopes that the success of the ITB Community Service Team this time will lead both institutions to even better collaborative activities in the future.
