ITB Helps Elevate Education Level in IKN Area, Proficient Use of Digital Technology Makes Learning Enjoyable

Educators or teachers in the Sepaku District of the National Capital Region continue to receive training to enhance their competencies.

After being equipped with understanding of digital communication and national insight by the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) some time ago, they are now proficient in using several computer applications.

Among these applications are Canva, Vocaroo, and GenPictures. They will use these applications to support the teaching and storytelling process for their students.

Their capability is evident from the work they produce when tasked with creating English teaching materials using these three applications.

"In general, the competencies of teachers in the fields of communication, information technology, and English have significantly improved," said one ITB lecturer who trained the teachers, Sutiadi Rahmansyah, on Tuesday (11/21/2023).

Whereas previously teachers used Google technology to find images, now they are adept at compiling materials, recording sound, and even animating the images they create using artificial intelligence (AI), making their teaching methods and storytelling in class much more engaging.

Meanwhile, the Team Leader of this training activity, Gumawang Jati, explained that mastery of technology among teachers is imperative.

According to him, if teachers are not adept at technology and do not master it, there will be a gap between teachers and students.

"The development of technology is very rapid today, and the mastery of gadget use among Generation Z and Alpha is very high," he explained.

One teacher from SDN 016 Sepaku, Fauziah Safira, who created animal stories (fables) and utilized applications for storytelling, became the best participant in the training.

She created an animation of the story "The Fox and The Goat," and then presented it to the other participants.

Her ability then earned her a reward, and she admitted that she would apply it in her teaching.

"I am very happy, not only did I receive knowledge, but now I also received money. Thank you, ITB!" said Fauziah cheerfully.

Policy Analyst from the National Capital Region Authority (OIKN), Erna Gunawati, said that the activities initiated by ITB are in line with OIKN's efforts to improve the quality of human resources in Sepaku.

She also hoped that other programs that can be integrated with the Otorita IKN program can be provided to the community in the coming years.

"We hope that the ITB activities will not stop here, and there will be other programs that can be provided to IKN in the coming years," said Erna.
