Gus Halim: Island Village to Become Locus of Desanesha Application in 2024

The Minister of Villages, Development of Disadvantaged Regions, and Transmigration (Mendes PDTT), Abdul Halim Iskandar, has set a goal for island villages to become the focus of the Desanesha application in 2024.

This initiative aims to address the critical issue of clean water, which is a major concern frequently raised by residents of island villages across Indonesia.

"There are numerous complaints about water in island villages. That's why we are trying next year, specifically for island villages," explained the minister, who is commonly known as Gus Halim, during a meeting with experts from the Institute for Research and Community Services (LPPM) ITB at the Kemendes PDTT Office in Kalisari, East Jakarta, on Monday, December 4, 2023.

Gus Halim suggested that the problems faced by villages could be swiftly and effectively addressed through consultations with ITB experts via the Desanesha application.

Moreover, clean water and sanitation are directly related to the sixth point of the Village SDGs, which is clean water and proper sanitation.

In addition to accelerating the achievement of the Village SDGs, the Desanesha application is also based on appropriate technology that can solve various issues in the 3T areas (disadvantaged, frontier, and outermost regions).

"With this application, village heads and experts can continuously synergize to resolve the problems faced by the villages," said this Honorary Professor of UNESA.

In the same opportunity, the Head of the Village Information Development Agency (BPI) Kemendes PDTT, Ivanovich Agusta, stated that Kemendes PDTT would recommend Desanesha to all villages in Indonesia.

It will be especially disseminated to regencies/cities focusing on the 3T villages in Eastern Indonesia.

"Desanesha is also featured in the village information system at sid.kemendesa.go.id along with all data and information from villages across Indonesia," concluded Ivanovich.

Desanesha is an application developed by LPPM ITB. This application is claimed to directly connect consultations between residents and village heads across Indonesia with ITB experts regarding the issues they face.
