Supporting Bira Tourism Innovation, LPPM ITB Team Launches Bira Village Tourism Website, South Sulawesi

Now, hidden beauties like Bira Village will be easily accessible to the public. October 18, 2021, a website called Wisatabira.com has been officially launched. This website is intended to promote the natural beauty of Bira Village to the public. This innovation was initiated by the LPPM ITB team who previously conducted research in Bira Village.

The launching of the turisbira.com website, was carried out directly by Dr. Ira Adriati (LPPM ITB research team) together with the Head of Bira Village, Bontobahari District, Bulukumba Regency, at the Bira Village Office, Bontobahari District, Bulukumba Regency, South Sulawesi. Wisatabira.com is an offering from the Bandung Institute of Technology Research and Community Service team who have successfully conducted research on tourism and culture in Bira.

Apart from launching the Bira travel website, Dr. Ira Adriati has also successfully written two books related to Bira entitled Wisata Bira and Bira Maritime Culture. Dr Ira Adriati Winarno said that he had visited Bira Village for the fourth time. He has also visited Bira Village since 2016 after being assigned to conduct Phinisi research from the Indonesian Maritime Security Agency (Bakamla).

“From there, I saw that Bira Village has enormous potential for tourism advancement and also uniqueness that other regions do not have. So I proposed a collaboration for Bira Village as a pilot village for cultural tourism based on local wisdom of the Bugis people," said Ira, Wednesday (10/20/2021).

According to him, this is done to improve the local economy of course. The hope is that with this turisbira.com website, it can increase tourism promotion and marketing in Bira.

"We hope that this platform can increase the promotion and marketing of tourism and the creative economy of Bira Village, Bontobahari District, Bulukumba Regency and have an impact on improving the community's economy," said Ira.

Meanwhile, the Head of Bira Village, Murlawa, in his speech greatly appreciated the team of the Bandung Institute of Technology Research and Community Service Institute. In this case, Dr. Ira Adriati Winarno who has taken the time to do research and has helped the community a lot in doing service so far.

“I really appreciate the LPPM ITB team for choosing our village as a research location and doing service in our area. We also express our appreciation for creating innovations and supporting the creation of a tourist information platform for Bira village," said Murlawa.

"This is also an honor and a spirit for the community and also the village government because the LPPM ITB team has chosen Bira as the research location," he concluded.
