Bandung Institute of Technology Pharmacy Lecturer Inaugurates Mitra Village in Tanjungsari Tasikmalaya

As part of the implementation of the Tridharma of higher education, the School of Pharmacy at Bandung Institute of Technology (SF ITB) inaugurated the SF ITB Partner Village in Tanjungsari Village, Gunungtanjung District, Tasikmalaya Regency, on Friday (May 17, 2024).

The inauguration took place at the Tanjungsari Village Multipurpose Building and was attended by the Dean of SF ITB, Prof. apt. I Ketut Adnyana, Ph.D., the Chairman of the SF ITB Senate, Prof. Dr. apt. Sukrasno, the Regional Secretary of Tasikmalaya Regency, Dr. H. Mohamad Zen, the Head of Gunungtanjung Sub-district, the Secretary of Tanjungsari Village, as well as officials from various local government departments (OPD) in Tasikmalaya Regency, and other invited guests.

The event included a dialogue between stakeholders, including representatives from SF ITB, Tanjungsari Village, Gunungtanjung District, and various local government organizations such as the departments of culture, tourism, youth and sports, health, cooperatives, SMEs, industry and trade, as well as fisheries extension officers from BRPBATPP. Representatives from higher education institutions in Tasikmalaya, such as BTH University, were also present.

The event organizer, Dr. apt. Hegar Pramastya, explained that the Partner Village is a place for SF ITB lecturers and students to conduct community service. "We want the village and the university to be equal, which is why we call it a Partner Village. We can also gain new knowledge from the village. This Partner Village serves as a platform for community service, education, and research. One of the programs involves educating about stunting, with participation from students and lecturers from the School of Pharmacy ITB and nutrition experts," he said.

The Partner Village program involves many parties, including other faculties at ITB, such as the Faculty of Fine Arts and Design. Some of the programs include training in waste sorting, making liquid organic fertilizer, and diversifying mendong craft products using natural dyes.

The Dean of SF ITB, Prof. apt. I Ketut Adnyana, Ph.D., highlighted four focus areas for community service: health, sports, economy, and human resource quality. He mentioned that Tanjungsari Village has outstanding potential to compete with other villages in Indonesia, especially in mendong craft products. Meanwhile, the Regional Secretary of Tasikmalaya Regency, Dr. H. Mohamad Zen, appreciated SF ITB's contributions to Tanjungsari Village over the past three years and hopes that this initiative can be adopted by other villages in Tasikmalaya Regency.
