ITB Community Service Assistance at IKN by Parents of FTMD ITB Students 2019

Currently, 14 ITB Community Service activities are underway at IKN. Two activities aimed at facilitating the exploration of drilling for clean water sources in two buffer villages of the IKN core area, Bumi Harapan Village and Bukit Harapan Village, are facing numerous challenges. One major issue is that the villages are unable to provide accommodation for the technicians at the village hall, and there is a month-long power outage during the deep drilling process to reach the groundwater aquifer at a depth of 100 meters, which requires 30 kVA of electricity.

Amidst technical, time, distance, and human resource challenges in the field, the ITB team unexpectedly connected with Mr. Ir. Edy Herlambang, the owner of PT. Borneo Power Services, who is also the parent of an FTMD student. He committed to assisting ITB's community service activities going forward without charging any fees, utilizing the resources of PT. Borneo Power Services, namely electricity and generator/power plant utilities.

He was moved by ITB's willingness to send experts to help the communities in remote areas of Kalimantan and as a token of gratitude to ITB for educating his two sons who studied at FTI and FTMD.

LPPM ITB expresses gratitude and appreciation to PT. Borneo Power Services for its support of ITB Community Service activities in the National Capital Nusantara (IKN).
